What's involved

What this repair actually is.

When the column is bent in a crash, destroyed in a theft, or its built-in electric assist unit fails, the whole assembly gets replaced. We transfer your switches and lock components as applicable, install the new column, connect the airbag clock spring correctly, and program and calibrate any column electronics.

Symptoms

How you can tell.

  • Column bent or collapsed after a collision
  • Severe theft damage to the column and lock
  • Column-mounted electric assist has failed
  • Wheel wobbles on the column even when parked
  • Repair shop found the column unrepairable
If you delay

A structurally damaged column can bind or shift while driving, and a mispositioned airbag is a serious safety risk.
