What's involved

What this repair actually is.

Hydraulic steering uses a high-pressure hose to the rack and a low-pressure return hose back to the reservoir. Age, heat, and vibration crack the rubber or corrode the metal fittings until fluid seeps or sprays out. We replace the failed hose, refill with the correct fluid, and bleed the system.

Symptoms

How you can tell.

  • Fluid dripping or spraying under the car
  • Wet, oily hose visible in the engine bay
  • Frequent fluid top-offs
  • Groaning as fluid runs low
  • Burning smell from fluid hitting hot exhaust
If you delay

A leaking hose can burst suddenly — instant heavy steering and a fire risk if fluid sprays onto hot exhaust.
