What's involved
What this repair actually is.
When both the inner and outer tie rod on the same side show wear — or the adjuster between them is rusted solid — replacing the complete assembly is cheaper and more reliable than fighting seized parts. We install the full inner-plus-outer assembly, replace the boot as needed, and align the vehicle.
Symptoms
How you can tell.
- Noticeable steering play on one side
- Both joints flagged at inspection
- Rusted or seized tie rod adjuster
- Rapid inner-edge tire wear
- Clunking and wander together
If you delay
Worn tie rods let toe settings drift constantly, scrubbing tires and inviting sudden joint failure.
