What's involved

What this repair actually is.

In a rebuild, the transmission comes out of the car and is completely torn down. Every clutch pack, seal, gasket, and worn bushing or bearing is replaced, hard parts are inspected and machined or replaced as needed, and the unit is reassembled to factory specification. It saves your original transmission rather than swapping in an unknown one, and the exact scope is only knowable after teardown.

Symptoms

How you can tell.

  • Severe slipping in multiple gears
  • Metal shavings or debris found in the fluid
  • Repeated limp mode despite prior repairs
  • Grinding or whining that changes with speed
  • No movement in Drive or Reverse
If you delay

Once internal metal debris is circulating, every mile grinds down more components — the job only gets bigger.
