What this repair actually is.
The CV (constant velocity) axle carries power from the transmission to the wheel while flexing with the suspension and steering. When its joints wear out, they click on turns and can eventually vibrate or separate. We remove the old axle as a complete assembly and install a new one, torquing the axle nut to spec.
Symptoms
How you can tell.
- Clicking or popping when turning
- Vibration during acceleration
- Grease sprayed on the inside of the wheel
- Clunk when accelerating from a stop
- Shudder at highway speed
If you delay
A badly worn CV joint can separate while driving, leaving the vehicle unable to move and possibly damaging surrounding parts.
