What this repair actually is.
The clutch is the friction connection between the engine and a manual transmission, and it wears out like a brake pad. We remove the transmission, install a complete clutch kit (disc, pressure plate, and release bearing), address the flywheel surface, and reinstall everything. The flywheel's condition can only be judged once it's visible, which is why final pricing follows teardown.
Symptoms
How you can tell.
- Engine revs climb but the car barely accelerates (slipping)
- Clutch pedal engages at the very top or very bottom
- Burning smell after hills or hard driving
- Chatter or shudder when pulling away from a stop
- Grinding when shifting gears
