What's involved
What this repair actually is.
The transmission mount is a rubber-and-metal cushion that holds the transmission to the vehicle's frame and absorbs its movement. When the rubber cracks or collapses, you feel clunks when shifting into gear and vibration at idle. We support the transmission, unbolt the failed mount, and install a new one.
Symptoms
How you can tell.
- Clunk or thud when shifting into Drive or Reverse
- Vibration through the floor at idle
- Clunking over bumps or during hard acceleration
- Visible cracked or sagging rubber in the mount
If you delay
A collapsed mount lets the drivetrain move around, stressing other mounts, exhaust connections, and cooler lines.
