What's involved
What this repair actually is.
The molding is the trim strip that runs around the windshield edge, covering the bond line and keeping wind and water out. Sun and age make it shrink, crack, or peel away, which causes whistling at highway speed and lets water creep toward the glass edge. We remove the old molding, clean the channel, and fit new trim so the glass edge is sealed and finished.
Symptoms
How you can tell.
- Rubber trim around the windshield lifting or flapping
- Whistling wind noise at highway speed
- Cracked, shrunken, or sun-rotted windshield trim
- Trim strip missing after a car wash
If you delay
Water working under loose molding corrodes the windshield frame, and rust along the pinch weld makes a future windshield replacement significantly more expensive.
