What's involved
What this repair actually is.
We change the oil, seal and mark the system, and record the level precisely; you drive normally for about 1,000 miles, then return so we can measure exactly how much oil was used. This separates harmless consumption from worn rings, valve seals, or PCV problems, and it is also the documentation many manufacturers require before honoring an oil-burning warranty claim.
Symptoms
How you can tell.
- Adding oil between oil changes
- Low oil warning light coming on before the next service is due
- Blue or gray smoke from the exhaust
- Burning oil smell
- Dipstick reads low even with no visible leak
