What's involved
What this repair actually is.
We add a professional flushing agent to the old oil and run the engine at idle so the detergent circulates through the oil passages and dissolves sludge, varnish, and deposits. Then we drain everything, install a new filter, and refill with fresh oil. It's most valuable for engines that have missed oil changes, sat unused, or are switching to synthetic after years of conventional oil.
Symptoms
How you can tell.
- Missed or long-overdue oil changes
- Sludge visible under the oil cap
- Oil pressure light flickering at idle
- Ticking valvetrain noise on startup
- Buying a used car with unknown service history
If you delay
Sludge keeps building until it blocks oil passages and starves the top of the engine, which can ruin camshafts, lifters, and turbochargers.
