What this repair actually is.
Leaf springs are the stacked steel springs that carry the rear of most pickups, vans, and some SUVs. Years of loads and Northeast salt crack leaves, snap center bolts, and rust out the shackles and hangers. We support the axle, remove the old spring pack, replace worn shackles and U-bolts as needed, and install the new spring so the vehicle sits level and carries weight the way it should.
Symptoms
How you can tell.
- Rear end sags on one side or when loaded
- Clunking or squeaking from the rear over bumps
- Visible cracked or broken leaf in the spring pack
- Truck leans to one side when parked
- Banging noise when pulling away or braking
If you delay
A broken leaf shifts the axle position, wears tires, and can let the spring pack come apart under load.
