What's involved

What this repair actually is.

The tire comes off the wheel so the technician can inspect the puncture from the inside — the only way to repair a tire safely. A combination patch-plug seals the hole permanently, then the tire is remounted, rebalanced, and set to the correct pressure. String plugs done from the outside without dismounting are a temporary fix, not a proper repair.

Symptoms

How you can tell.

  • Tire loses air overnight or over a few days
  • Nail or screw visible in the tread
  • TPMS low-pressure light keeps coming back
  • Hissing sound from a tire
  • You've been refilling the same tire at the gas station
If you delay

Driving on a leaking tire overheats and destroys the sidewall, turning a cheap patch into a full tire replacement — or a blowout.
