What this repair actually is.
When the DPF substrate is cracked, melted, or ash-packed beyond cleaning, the filter must be replaced. We install a new EPA-compliant DPF with fresh gaskets and clamps, transfer or replace the pressure and temperature sensors as needed, and program the new filter so the engine computer manages regeneration correctly from day one.
Symptoms
How you can tell.
- DPF codes return immediately after cleaning
- Soot or smoke from the tailpipe despite a DPF
- Permanent limp mode
- Filter physically rattles when tapped
- Failed emissions inspection
If you delay
A failed DPF keeps the vehicle derated and out of compliance — for commercial diesels that means it cannot legally work.
