What's involved

What this repair actually is.

The DPF traps soot from diesel exhaust and burns it off during regeneration, and short city trips — common in the Bronx — often prevent regens from completing, clogging the filter. We read soot load and differential pressure data, review the regen history, and check the sensors and injectors that drive regeneration to determine whether you need a forced regen, a cleaning, or a replacement.

Symptoms

How you can tell.

  • DPF warning light on the dash
  • Truck stuck in limp mode or derated power
  • Excessive black or white smoke
  • Poor fuel economy
  • Frequent regeneration cycles
If you delay

An overloaded DPF forces the engine into limp mode and can crack internally, turning a cleaning into a full replacement.
