What this repair actually is.
Ball joints are the ball-and-socket pivots that connect the control arms to the steering knuckle, letting the wheel steer and travel over bumps. When one wears loose it clunks, wanders, and eats tires — and a fully failed joint can let the wheel fold under the vehicle. We press or unbolt the old joint out, install a new one, and torque it to spec; an alignment afterward is required because the wheel position changes.
