What this repair actually is.
Each power window has its own electric motor inside the door. When the motor wears out, the window slows down, works only sometimes, or stops responding entirely with no sound from inside the door. We confirm power is reaching the motor (ruling out the switch and wiring), replace it, and verify smooth operation and any auto-up/down relearn the vehicle requires.
Symptoms
How you can tell.
- No sound at all when pressing the window switch
- Window moves slower and slower
- Works only after slamming the door or tapping the panel
- Window stops midway and reverses
- Only works from one switch
If you delay
The motor usually fails completely at the worst time — often leaving the window stuck open in rain or overnight.
