What's involved

What this repair actually is.

Modern throttle bodies are electronic — a motor and position sensors control the throttle plate, and when they wear out the car stalls, idles erratically, or locks itself into reduced-power (limp) mode. We replace the throttle body assembly with a new gasket and perform the relearn/calibration the vehicle requires.

Symptoms

How you can tell.

  • 'Reduced engine power' warning on the dash
  • Car stalls and throttle feels unresponsive
  • Erratic or racing idle
  • Throttle body codes that return after cleaning
If you delay

Limp mode can trigger without warning, dropping you to a crawl on the highway — an unpredictable and unnerving failure to drive with.
