What's involved
What this repair actually is.
Hybrids and EVs blend motor-based regenerative braking with conventional friction brakes, and a fault in that blending causes strange pedal feel, weak regen or warning lights. We scan the brake control system, test the blending actuator and motor-generator regen, and road-test the car to pinpoint the fault.
Symptoms
How you can tell.
- Brake pedal feels grabby, spongy or inconsistent
- Regenerative braking warning or reduced-regen message
- Car doesn't slow down when you lift off like it used to
- Groaning or buzzing when braking gently
- Range or fuel economy has dropped
If you delay
When regen fades, the friction brakes carry the whole load — they wear far faster and braking performance can suffer.
