What's involved
What this repair actually is.
The radar behind your grille or bumper measures the distance to the car ahead, and even a small knock can point it a degree or two off — enough to make cruise and emergency braking unreliable. We check the sensor's mounting, aim it precisely using manufacturer alignment equipment, and run the factory calibration so distance readings are accurate again.
Symptoms
How you can tell.
- 'Radar blocked' or 'ACC unavailable' message
- Adaptive cruise follows too closely or brakes late
- Random braking with nothing in front of the car
- Cruise stopped working after a fender-bender or bumper replacement
- Emergency braking warning light on
If you delay
A misaimed radar can misjudge the distance to the car ahead, which means late warnings, late braking, or braking for objects that aren't in your lane.
