What's involved
What this repair actually is.
Each parking sensor is a small ultrasonic 'ear' in the bumper, and one bad sensor can silence the whole system or make it beep constantly. We test each sensor to find the failed one, replace it (some bumpers must come off for access), and code the new sensor when the vehicle requires it.
Symptoms
How you can tell.
- Constant beeping with nothing near the bumper
- Parking alert silent even when close to obstacles
- 'Park assist unavailable' or sensor warning on the dash
- One sensor visibly cracked or pushed into the bumper
- System stopped working after a parking tap or car wash
If you delay
The system usually disables itself entirely when one sensor fails, so you lose all parking alerts — front and rear — until it's replaced.
