What's involved

What this repair actually is.

The intake manifold routes air (and on many engines, coolant) into the engine, sealed by gaskets that shrink and crack with age. A failed gasket lets unmetered air or coolant sneak in, causing rough idle, lean codes, or coolant loss. We remove the manifold, replace all gaskets, and verify the leak is gone.

Symptoms

How you can tell.

  • Rough or surging idle
  • Check engine light with lean codes
  • Coolant level dropping with no visible puddle
  • Hissing sound from the engine
  • Hesitation or stumble at low speeds
If you delay

A coolant-type intake leak can let coolant seep into the oil or cylinders, which leads to serious internal engine damage.
