What this repair actually is.
The fuel pump sits inside your gas tank and pressurizes fuel up to the engine; when it weakens or dies, the engine starves and won't start or cuts out while driving. We replace the pump module (which usually includes the fuel level sender and strainer), then verify correct pressure and volume before returning the vehicle.
Symptoms
How you can tell.
- Engine cranks but won't start
- Whining noise from the rear of the car
- Engine dies while driving, then restarts later
- Loss of power going uphill or under load
- Long cranking when the tank is low
If you delay
A dying pump will strand you without warning — often in traffic — and running it dry can also send debris through the fuel system.
