What's involved
What this repair actually is.
The driveshaft carries power from the transmission back to the differential on rear-wheel-drive and 4WD vehicles. If it is bent, dented, or its joints are non-serviceable and worn, the whole assembly is replaced. We remove the old shaft, install a new or remanufactured unit, and verify smooth operation with a road test.
Symptoms
How you can tell.
- Strong vibration at all speeds
- Clunking when accelerating or decelerating
- Visible dent or damage to the shaft
- Squeaking or grinding from underneath
- Shaft was damaged by road debris or an impact
If you delay
A failing driveshaft can separate while driving, causing serious underbody damage and an immediate breakdown.
