What this repair actually is.
The top-down parking view is stitched together from four or more cameras, and if any one of them shifts — after a mirror replacement, bumper work, or a camera swap — the overhead image gets seams, gaps, or misaligned guidance lines. We set the vehicle on a level surface with the manufacturer's floor targets, calibrate every camera in the system, and verify the stitched image and distance references line up correctly.
Symptoms
How you can tell.
- Bird's-eye view looks split, warped, or misaligned at the seams
- One section of the overhead image points the wrong way
- 'Surround view unavailable' or camera warning message
- Overhead view wrong after a mirror, bumper, or camera replacement
- Guidance lines don't match where the car actually is
If you delay
A misaligned surround view shows obstacles in the wrong place, which can lead to exactly the parking scrapes the system is meant to prevent.
