What's involved
What this repair actually is.
The wiper motor sits under the cowl at the base of the windshield and drives the wiper arms through a linkage. When it wears out, wipers move slowly, park in the wrong spot, stop partway through a sweep, or stop working altogether. We confirm the motor (and not the linkage, switch, or fuse) is at fault, replace it, and set the wipers to the correct park position.
Symptoms
How you can tell.
- Wipers stopped working completely
- Wipers move slowly or hesitate
- Wipers stop in the middle of the windshield
- Only one speed works
- Humming from the cowl but no wiper movement
If you delay
You risk being caught in rain or snow with no wipers — a genuine visibility hazard and an automatic NY inspection failure.
