What's involved

What this repair actually is.

A hand pump and adapter pressurize the cooling system to its normal operating pressure while the engine is off, forcing any leak to show itself. We also test the radiator cap, which is a common and cheap cause of coolant loss. This is the most reliable way to confirm whether a system holds pressure.

Symptoms

How you can tell.

  • Coolant disappears but you can't find a leak
  • Overheating with no obvious cause
  • Coolant smell but no visible drips
  • Reservoir boiling or overflowing after driving
If you delay

An unfound leak keeps draining coolant until the engine overheats, risking head gasket and engine damage.
